I was on a bit of a photo high after the couple of stunning pics I managed to get on Day 4's shoot for my 2019 Wall Calendar, so I was, perhaps, expecting a bit too much today.
We headed to Sant'Angelo, a picture-postcard little tourist bay that is about as hard to get to as anywhere on the island.
With the kids in tow we had a 40 minute drive to get there, round twisting and unpredicatable roads.
Which meant we were on a race against time to get the right light; too early and it'd look too stark, but too late and, well, it's too late!
Moreover, I wanted to get to another part, called Maronti, afterwards, which would require another 30 min drive, over the mountain, so it was really pushing it to try. But try we did!
Upon arrival at Sant'Angelo, I ditched Simona - the kids were sleeping in the car, best not to wake the tigers - and rushed down the throng to get snap-happy.
I'm not convinced I got any great shots, but this is probably one of the better ones (remember, this is a low-res JPG, the original RAW file is much more detailed!); do you think it's calendar-worthy?
After that I didn't have long to hang about, but I did head for another shot across the water to the bay of Maronti (where I'd hoped to head afterwards).
As it goes, that shot was really rather uninteresting, but I did see a potentially nice shot the way the light was catching some boats which, though not suitable for the calendar (wrong orientation) nonetheless, I thought I'd try, beacuse I need the practice!
After that, it was a mad dash back up to the car (watch the video at the top of this post for the full story) and off to Maronti before we lost the light.
Alas, we lost the light.
But I did try to capture the vibe of the vista, even if it was somewhat...dark!
And so that was how the fifth day of shooting for my calendar wrapped.
Did I get any shots that are up to par? I'd love to know what you think?
