Grip The Sky (EP)[MP3]

Grip The Sky is my second EP, and marks a change in style from my debut EP, the blues-heavy They Come And Go Like Rain, with the addition of drum samples, a wider palette of guitar sounds and an expansion into different genres, whilst still maintaining the core uniqueness of my own spin on music.

It starts with the heavy, riff-rocking stadium opener Waiting For The Offer, complete with an extended, Hendrix-inspired psychedelic guitar solo, before bringing in a textured wall of sampled drums for the U2-esque media statement Devil In Your Ear.

The third track moves into David Gilmour and Pink Floyd territory, with the rousing, emotionally stirring epic JFKO'd, before everything gets brought right back to funk-rock basics, with the driving James Brown tinged bass and guitar groove Fifteen Hours, a comedic tale about a long journey from the UK to Italy.

Finally, the EP finishes with the calm and bittersweet jazz-tinted ballad Your Eyes Don't Lie, a tale about love and loss straight out of a Richard Curtis film soundtrack, complete with a melodic sax motif and a heartfelt guitar solo, then to close, the JFKO'd (instrumental) version, a very different flavour that really brings up the subtlety of the lead guitar and makes for a very track to sink a drink to.

Recorded in 2016 it was only available for the Crow Crew, my members club, for a few years before being remixed, remastered and released to the public in 2021.
